Paris in the Springtime

Rather than bore you all with my pics of Paris, most of which don't include people, here are some highlights, in no particular order.

John and I in front of the Louvre. We were hoping to see some great works of art, but instead were shown the door. They closed early for some kind of special event. But with the money we saved, we were able to buy some more wine! Yeah!

Samantha and I also in front of the Louvre, but earlier in the week. At this point, the museum was still open, but we decided to go get some wine instead.

Versailles Palace: too big to capture in pictures, but the slogan on the building says something like "all the treasures of France" which seemed pretty fitting for the place.

Gargoyle on top of the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Back in MN, telling the kids about my trip, I tried to share some of the mysteries of Paris with them. I asked if they knew what gargoyles were. Seamus promptly responded, "Of course, they are the statues of mythical creatures on the top of buildings to scare away evil spirits." Apparently, James and Anne are getting their money's worth with their current babysitter.

And of course, the Eiffel Tower at night.
It was such a great trip. Thanks, Samantha, for another wonderful vacation!

Long Branch Half Marathon

So, I added another half marathon to my list of things completed. Samantha convinced me to join her for the Long Branch Half Marathon, and I convinced my cousins Kristine and Corey to join in. With Samantha's friends, this made for a nice big group carb-loading together the night before. This also included lots of wine, so its amazing we all showed and completed the race the next day!

Tommy Reid, we are talking to you!
